CAMP PEACEPRINTS 2020: “Let’s Talk Peace”
Monday – Friday, July 13 – 24, 2020 from 1:30-3:30pm
Announcing the 13th annual Camp Peaceprints, brought to you by the Interfaith Peace Network, the SSJ Sister Karen Klimczak Center for Nonviolence, and the WNY Peace Center. The camp, for youth ages 8 to 13, fully online this year due to COVID-19, provides exposure to a diverse community while introducing and exploring communication, social justice issues, community organizing, and peaceful conflict resolution.
Our theme for Camp Peaceprints 2020 is “Let’s Talk Peace.” In our current political environment, deep divisions exist among people regarding the philosophy and values of social engagement. How do we establish a culture of peace with people who are different from us? How do we listen to one another? Camp Peaceprints will provide opportunities for campers to practice difficult conversations using good listening skills, tools for open communication, respect for diversity of opinion, and elements of persuasion with the end goal of increasing campers’ commitment to social justice, and establishing a culture of peace. We’ll have wonderful guest presenters – activists and artists from the Buffalo area. We’ll also play games, have recreation/physical activities, do art projects, create music, and go on field trips. All on Zoom!!
Registration is sliding scale of up to $25 per week, with scholarships readily available. For registration forms, please click here. For further info, please go to sisterkarencenter.org. Please register, and we’ll also be delivering packets with art materials, etc., for use during Camp.
Youth assistants and adult volunteers are an integral part of the program.
